LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

AMY TAAKE

about me

Your story matters. Your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles is unique to you. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy. My job as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space that promotes growth, change, and insight into these problems. I focus on the connection between myself and my clients, so that you feel seen, heard, and valued. Working through the challenges that life throws at us, takes significant courage and vulnerability, which I strive to acknowledge and validate in sessions as well.

I approach my work with clients in a holistic manner, paying attention to the mind, body, and soul. I believe these elements are strongly connected to one another and all need to be addressed by recognizing the connection between them and how to create a healthy balance in all areas of one's life. I utilize mindfulness-based approaches to assist you in reconnecting your mind and body, as well as gain insight into managing uncomfortable emotions.

Being certified as both a Licensed Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Counselor, has provided me with opportunities to work both with those that struggle with substance use and co-occurring disorders, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and suicidal ideation. I have additional training in mindfulness-based approaches in mental health, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I love to learn and continue to commit myself to gaining more knowledge about the field of counseling and effective counseling practices to better improve my practice and assist my clients.
